FOREIGN’S STUDENT BATTLE

Here I aim to unfold a tale of International students that is hardly talked about. Being international students is somewhat a dream for many youngsters. While in reality, not everything is blissful. Adapting to a new life can be harsh and there are moments in which you must combat isolation while also having the responsibility of heavy workloads. There are circumstances where you are unable to afford foods. There are times when all of these can swallow you. It leaves you unmotivated, homesick, and stressed out. Acceptance, however, is what can cure this matters. At least you know that you are taking steps towards a better version of yourself and securing a better future.

VORACIOUS

The phrase means eating or acquiring things significantly beyond the point of necessity or satiety. In this series, I aim to unfold what it's like to have an insatiable impulse of consuming food through your lenses. The moment where one may be entrapped in this 'unique' situation to the point it possessed them. Where one is ignorant of their current actions. Where one may disregard the repercussions of it. Where one finally realised, this has to come to an end and finally, must flee from this undesirable reality.

This series' high textured and sharp imagery embodies the greasiness of the tremendous amounts of food, the nauseous sensation, and the unsettling scene of this occurrence. Cold tones and harsh lighting expresses the fragmented life staged at night where the compulsion of hunger is striving for more and more. Subjects in the photos are thoughtfully captured with various techniques such as triple exposure, centre framing, negative space, shapes, leading lines and the rule of thirds to create an outstanding highlight of the subject.

FLAT ILLUSTRATION

It all begins during quarantine. Wandering around on ways to enhance my skills. There I found myself diving into art boundaries. Exploring flat illustrations wasn’t so bad after all.
